History

The International Vanguard of Counsellors (IVC) is a web-based coalition under the administration of NBCC International, a division of the National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates, Inc. (NBCC).

NBCC International was formed in 2003 by the Board of Directors of the NBCC. It is a product of the National Board for Certified Counselors' response to requests from colleagues and agencies outside the United States for help in developing counselor credentialing mechanisms and in promoting counseling around the world. As part of its mission, NBCC International is dedicated to providing support to present and future leaders of professional counselling movements.

The IVC is the first official program of NBCC International targeting present and future counselling leaders. It is the evolution of the NBCC International Fellows program recognizing international students studying counselling in the United States and abroad.
